Due process of law requires that a person be considered innocent until proven guilty. The accused should be rightly heard. Nicodemus, in today's gospel, asks, "Does our law condemn a man before it first hears him...?" In the "court of life,", so many innocent people have been convicted without fair trial. They were "imprisoned" because they were pronounced guilty sans being heard. |
