Sin is associated with darkness as grace is identified with light. The Johannine account of Satan's entry into the life of Judas is followed by the assertion that it was NIGHT [hence, dark]. Even our Sacred Liturgy dramatizes the interplay of light and darkness. Easter Vigil marks the triumph of the light of the risen Lord over the darkness of sin and death. Holy week invites us to conquer the darkness of a sinful life. We have Christ who lights our way and our life. |
