Once we say "complete," we confirm that nothing more should be added. Nothing is lacking. Jesus, in today's gospel, says "I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete." To remain in his love is the mark of completion. St. Teresa of Avila experienced this and joyfully she exclaimed "Solo Dios basta." Truly, only God suffices. Only God completes. |
