Friendship is characterized by familiarity and intimacy. Jesus call us his friends because he has "told us everything he has heard from his Father" -- the heavenly secrets, so to say. It is indeed a great privilege to be treated as friends of Jesus. It's not enough that we are intimate. We are expected to be loyal. We have to be faithful at all times. |
