Tears turning into cheers. Morose becoming jocose. This interplay of sorrow and joy is succint in today's gospel. Jesus says, "You will grieve but your grief will become joy." This is Christian life. Trials come while blessings later abound. We cry a river but later we laugh out loud. Joy and sorrow are inseparable, says Kahlil Gibran. We lament on Good Friday but we rejoice on Easter Sunday. |
