Isn't it a paradox -- leaving and yet staying? In today's gospel Jesus augurs, "Now I am leaving the word." Referring to his ascension, Jesus was right in saying he would leave but it is only one side of the coin. He gives an assurance that he will always be with us (cf. Mt. 28:20). We experience his presence in the Eucharist, in his Word and in each one of us. Has he totally left us? A big NO. |
