What is common between salt and light? They are both ordinary and commonplace. In fact, you don't notice them as they are always available. But their absence certainly makes a big difference. Perhaps when Jesus makes that simile, he wants to remind us not to take things for granted and realize only their value when they are no longer a handgrip or are totally gone. |
