Mercy over sacrifice. The Lord
prefers the former. He himself is full of mercy. He values acts of compassion as superior to acts of oblation. Holy sacrifice is good but loving mercy is better. Burnt offerings are not pleasing if charity is lacking. Bended knees touch the eyes but extended hands move the heart. Pious deeds are inspiring but virtuous acts are life-giving. |
