Never put anyone to shame. Always save one's face. While the English version of today's gospel uses the word "persistence," the original Greek rendition uses "anaideia" wich is "absence of face" or "absence of shame." The friend will rise up and offer bread so as not to put his friend to shame before his guests. God always wishes to save our face. |
