A cross looks like a plus (+) sign. Yes, John provides a positive view. Crucifixion is an exaltation (Greek "hypsoo" meaning "pulled up"). Jesus was in full control. He came forward to be arrested. He said, "I lay down my life." He gave up His spirit. He said, "It is consummated." A horizontal bar is a minus (-) sign which is negative. It cannot form a cross. Let's add a vertical pole that points to heaven. Then, everything will turn out positive. |
