Storms can destroy our lives but can also clear our path. That's the optimism of suffering. Bearing the cross is a "conditio sine qua non" in our Christian discipleship. Today's gospel affirms that. We cannot follow the Lord if we are not ready to take up our crosses. Doing that is easier if our attitude is positive. The cross is not a heavy burden to be carried but a light load to be embraced. |
