Transfigured "while praying." This is peculiarly Lucan, the gospel on prayer. Among the Synoptics, only Luke portrays Jesus in prayer when Transfiguration occurred. What is the lesson? Transfiguration is a foretaste of the future glory. It foreshadows Resurrection. It gives courage when hope is tailed apart. Only in prayer shall we see the glory behind the cross. |
