Two sides of a single coin. That's how we describe the double commandment. They are both admonitions to love. Yes, love of God and love of neighbor are inseparable. They are naturally conjoined. Love is incomplete if one aspect is lacking. It's baloney to say we love God if we hate our neighbors. A single commandment with two applications, one complementing the other. Simply put, they are "two-in-one." |
