St. Augustine inspired many with his words, "Preach and, if necessary, use words." He implied that giving example is the best preaching and that words may be superfluous. In today's gospel, Jesus chides the scribes and the Pharisees who "preach but do not practice." Preaching is empty if devoid of witnessing. We should "walk the talk." St. Augustine said it well. Preach witn your life. Only use words when necessary. |
