Queen-Mother. That's how we should look at the Queenship of Mary. Pope Pius XII in "Ad Coeli Reginam" emphasized that such queenship springs from Divine Maternity. Today's gospel describes how Mary humbly accepted the mission to bear the God-Man Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament, kings who married numerous women chose their mothers as successors to their throne. Mary is the Mother of Jesus and she deserves both the throne and the crown. |
