Associate of Jesus. That is Mary's title if we consider today's gospel. She was standing not only "near Jesus" but "next to him." That is implied in the Greek rendition of the text. Mary was not a mere spectator but an active participant in the drama of salvation enacted on the cross. Yes, she was a partner of Jesus in redeeming humanity. She still is. |
