I had a friend who worked hard, built a house and said "I have secured my future." Sad thing: He died before his time. Today's gospel is a clarion reminder. We are only fooling ourselves if we work for what is earthly and totally forget heaven. Not what we carry with our hands but what we hold in our hearts -- the key that opens up the heavenly gates. Heaven is our goal. Not this world. Never! |
