Lowest place. There is no other place lower than that. You cannot go down. Your only way is to go up. These practical considerations help us understand today's gospel on choosing the lowest place during banquet. It is indeed embarrassing if after choosing the best place we will end up being told to vacate such place as another more important guest has come. Just be humble. Low-key. You have a chance to move up. |
