"Quid pro quo" -- This Latin expression speaks about giving [or receiving] something for something else. It is a barter, so to say. Which runs contrary to the gospel imperative. Jesus makes it unambiguous. We feed the poor who have no capacity to pay us back. No strings attached. No expectations. Giving unconditionally. Our motive is love. Only love. Always love. |
