There is nothing wrong with the term "hallow" of "halloween" which is a shorter form of "All Hallow Even" or "All Saints' Eve." It simply means "holy." We do not speak of a "trick-or-treat." We salute holy people whom the Church hails as saints. They lived the beatitudes. During their lifetime, they practised the virtue of poverty, purity of heart and meekness. They were merciful. They were not only peacekeepers but were peacemakers. "Hollowed" be their names. Worth emulating. |
