Let's make a paradigm shift or a reversal of role. What if it is the master who serves his servant? The gospel affirms that in the normal scenario, the servant does not and cannot enjoy entitlement. He ought to serve and wait on tables. He cannot expect gratitude. But gone are the days of "vassalage." The Synodal Church adopts a new image. Servant-leaders literally serve. There are no slaves. The poor are considered special. Everyone enjoys the freedom of the children of God. |
