13 November: What comes to your mind when you hear the word "seduction?" The Greek text of today's gospel uses the word "planao" to mean "led astray, misled, abused" or "seduced" of various kinds: messianic, diabolical, political and doctrinal. Simply put, to be seduced is to be attracted to something to the point that that something already enslaves one. To be seduced is to allow passion to rule us and dominate our desires. Such seductions should be overruled by our strong will to do good. |
