An OR or official receipt simply says "received" and states the item and the corresponding price. That's it. No more. Would that this small sheet of paper add something. Why not write "received with joy?" In today's moving story of Zacchaeus, one thing is noticeable. Upon hearing Jesus' invite, the chief tax collector descended and received Jesus "with joy." This, being consistent with the Lucan motif of joy, invites us to always receive the Lord (in prayers and in the Eucharist) with deep gratitude and profound joy. |
