Here comes the sun -- popularized by the Beatles. The song describes the joy of spring-summer after a "long lonely winter." Today's gospel speaks about the fig tree that announces summer. The sad death of winter is replaced by the joyful life of spring leading to summertime. Only the optimists appreciate the bloosoming of new life after death. That is Christian life. Jesus' own death, with all its horrors, leads to the resurrection that brings new life and hope. |
