3 A's: A-dvent. A-wake. A-lert. We are at the threshold of a new liturgical year. Advent [from Latin "ad venire] signifies "coming." Yes, the Lord comes to us and not without surprise. We must be awake. The suddenness and unexpectedness of the thief's burglary urges us to be awake at all times. We must be alert and ready to welcome the Lord through acts of goodness. He is surely coming. When? No one knows. Just be awake all the time. Just be alert always. |
