The eye sees but the heart understands. Seeing, in today's gospel, is taken in the figurative sense. To see is to receive and understand the person and message of Jesus. We may have a clear vision with human eyes operative but this does not guarantee a clear spiritual sight. We need faith to perceive the profound message of salvation offered by the Lord. With that "lumen fidei," we shall behold and understand the mystery of God's love for us. |
