Without prejudice to the covenanted communities whose usual prayer addresses God with "Lord, Lord," I dare say that at times, such prayer is merely a lip service devoid of interiority. The gospel is telling us that such lip service does not guarantee entry into the kingdom. Doing God's will does. We, Christians, are not parrots mouthing empty, meaningless words. We speak from our hearts, praising God and giving him
honor that is due his name. |
