Fearless prophets we should be. John the Baptist was. He could not be swayed in matters of principle and conviction. Jesus described him as a "reed which cannot be swayed by the wind." When he preached against adultery, he stood pat even if Herod's concubine got furious. In fact, such courage led him to death. He was subsequently beheaded. Today's world tends to sway us. It will silence us to the point of trampling down our beliefs. Unswayed reed we should be. |
