Name the tune. Name that tune -- "Ang puso ko'y nagpupuri sa Panginoon." Who composed this song? Mary? A big NO. Scholars agree that St. Luke used an already existing hymn and placed it on the lips of Mary because it fits the sentiments of the Blessed Virgin. It is a song of praise. Mary echoes the thanksgiving of the people, acknowledging the "great things the Almighty has done." Let's own this song. We, too, should always sing our Magnificat in order to give thanks to God. |
