Some say we are born to die. Does that make life absurd and meaningless? Not at all. The martyrdom of St. Stephen was a death that gave life. He was born to live today's gospel, i.e., be a witness (that's the meaning of "martyr"). He died but he gained eternal life. Absurd our existence will be if we live just to die meaninglessly. Our life and equally our death should find meaning. With Christ, we live and die and live eternally. |
