I am constantly fascinated by that song which says "Deep in our hearts, in our souls, in all we are ... dwells God." As we read the Marcan account, spelling out all the appearances of the Risen Lord, we may, with a holy envy, wonder why Jesus does not appear to us as He did to Mary Magdalene, the two disciples on the way to Emmaus and to the eleven. The question is: Does he need to appear to us when "deep within us He dwells?" Yes, "beneath relentless faith, boundless hope and surrendering love"... the Risen Lord dwells in our hearts. |
