The renowned book "The Prophet" of Kahlil Gibran speaks of work. Labor is not a curse or misfortune but a "fulfillment of the earth's furthest dreams." Today, Labor Day, we honor St. Joseph who gave dignity to work and from whom the child Jesus [the carpenter's son] learned to labor. When at times indolence robs our enthusiasm and passion for work, let us invoke the help of St. Joseph and learn from Gibran that "to love life through labor is to be intimate with life's inmost sacrets." |
