We don't figure out the implication of the words, "Your will be done" when we recite the Lord's Prayer. The Greek "genetheto" is a painful resignation as opposed to Mary's joyful submission ["genoito" in Greek] when she gave her Fiat. Saying those words taught by Jesus is tantamount to accepting God's will no matter how painful it may be. We say Yes albeit difficult. |
