I love calling a person by name. It's easy if I really know the person. I exert efforts if I don't. Either I inquire from another or look carefully at the name plate, if any. It's nice to be called by name. Mary Magdalene had that joy when the Risen Lord called her. It was a sign of deep intimacy. Filipinos today simply address others by saying "Kuya" [or "Kuys"] and "Ate." Better still if we can call people by their names. Very personal. Very endearing. |
