How is love tested? It is by the lover's readiness to obey his beloved. Yes, love and obedience come together. This is pointed out by Jesus in today's gospel. "Whoever loves me will keep my word." The one who has and observes the commandments is the one who loves the Lord. Liars are not lovers. Selfish people do not know how to love. Lustful thoughts cannot come from a pure lover. Obedient Christians are the best lovers. |
