If we say, "like father, like son," analogically we can say "like master, like disciple." Today's gospel says that. No disciple is greater than Jesus. They share the same fate. As the Lord was persecuted, his disciples will suffer persecution, too. We don't have the right to complain when we face trials and difficulties. The Lord whom we follow and whose name we carry has gone ahead of us. His cross is ours. In his death we share. "Like Christ, like Christians." |
