One characteristic of Mariology is "ecclesiological." It is because Mary is always connected to the Church as she is the "Mater Ecclesiae." Upon Pope Francis' decree, Monday after Pentecost is dedicated to Mary as "Mother of the Church." How that happens is gleaned from today's gospel. Mary was entrusted by Jesus to John who vicariously represents all the faithful who accept the Blessed Mother. Yes, Mary is the Mother of all believers. She is the Mother of the Church. |
