As far as money-lending is concerned, we, priests, are perhaps the easiest target. Debtors generally believe that clerics cannot say No to those people borrowing money. Are we simply living the message of today's gospel? "Do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow." Reminder to ourselves and those "victims" of debtors. Draw a line between charity and justice. Strike a happy balance between generosity and prudence. |
