St. Augustine was convinced that our hearts find rest only in God. Applied to the gospel for today, the treasure which resides in the heart must be God himself. "Where your treasure is, there also will be your heart." Because of the allurements of the world, our hearts tend to what is pleasurable but not long lasting. We find joy in the comforts of the world but this happiness is only fleeting. True joy is in God. He is our Treasure. In God, our hearts find rest. |
