Yesterday we reflected on "abiding" and "aboding." The theme continues today as Jesus enjoins his disciples to "remain" in him by keeping his commandments. The Greek "menein" which means "to remain" is very much connected with "monai" or "dwelling places [indwelling]." The connection is obvious. Heaven is enjoyed only by those who remain in Jesus in a bond called "love." Such communion is a mark of intimate friendship with the Lord. |
