Prayer can become a meaningless utterance if devoid of charitable action. "I desire mercy, not sacrifice." It doesn't mean that action is superior to prayer. They are equally important. At times we are inclined to believe that God doesn't mind if we fail in charity as long as we are ardent in prayers. That is baloney. No amount of piety can compensate for our selfishness. Our Christian life must be a deep harmony of faith and good works. |
