Let us reflect on the downward movements of Jesus' pendulum [the way of humiliation of his kenosis]. His Incarnation is one. His death is another. Now, he makes us his friends. In today's gospel, he says, "I call you friends... I no longer speak of you as slaves." Enslaving is lording over. Friendship is intimacy. From his Divinity Jesus stooped down to lift us up. We, thus, enjoy the unfathomable gift of Divine friendship. |
