Self-preservation rules our action and behavior. Is there something wrong in that? Maybe not wrong but simply unfruitful. A seed preserved will not survive. It will sooner die. Whereas, a grain buried under the earth sprouts and grows and subsequently blossoms into flowers and fruits. This picturesque imagery describes the very death of Jesus that brought life to humanity. We should be ready to die to ourselves so that others may live. |
