Do not offend anyone! The very "Christian" trait of Jesus. He knew that Peter was not supposed to pay temple tax (he is God’s child). The Lord knew Peter should not be levied such tax but SO AS NOT TO OFFEND anyone, he instructed him to get the coin from the first catch of fish and pay it as tax for the two of them. Call it a "face-saving" act. Call it prudence. Call it human consideration. I call it "Christian virtue." Do everything so that no one will get offended. |
