Do good without expecting anything in return. It seems Peter and the rest of the apostles were desiring to be rewarded as they left everything to follow the Lord. They didn't realize Jesus himself was their eternal reward. We are tempted to demand something in exchange of our good deeds. Such expectation makes our motivation less Christian. It becomes egoistic and impure. Let us emulate the saints. No selfish interest. The only motive is love. |
