As I turn 61 today, I realize Iife is happier when we focus on the spirit of the law and not on its letter. Through the years I have been ordered by my superiors to obey them and I had ordered constituents to obey me. There were times when I focused on the letter of the law forgetting what was more essential -- the person who needs love, understanding and mercy. Today's gospel tells us so. "Bago ang lahat, tao muna at ang kanyang kagalingan." That makes life more worthliving. Thanks for your greetings and prayers. |
