To be moved with pity is not just a matter of feeling or emotion. Today's gospel shows us how the merciful Lord acted in concrete to feed the hungry crowds. He multiplied the loaves and fish. When we watch television or browse at facebook, we don't simply say we pity the victims of calamity. We have to extend a helping hand. Love is both a noun and a verb. It is an emotion translated into a concrete action. |
