From being down in the dumps, you shall be on cloud nine. That is the promise of Jesus in today's gospel, "Your sorrow will turn into joy." His death will lead to his resurrection. His leaving will signal the coming of the Spirit of Truth. Our life is not always a glassful of tears. We also enjoy a cupful of cheers. Sadness doesn't have the final word. We can cry our eyes out but we can be over the moon. Kahlil Gibran says sorrow and joy are inseparable. One comes after the other. |
