Who visited Elizabeth? It was not only Mary but also Jesus whom she was carrying in her womb. It was, therefore, an event that was both Marian and Christological. No wonder why Elizabeth in her profound joy exclaimed, "Who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" She recognized both Mary and the fruit of her womb, Jesus. Let us rejoice when we encounter Mary. Let us shout with joy when we meet the Lord. |
