A great man once said, "A ship is safe in harbor but that is not what ships are for." The strength of the ship is tried when it sails on stormy seas. In today's gospel, Jesus prayed to the Father, "I do not ask you to take them out of the world." It is easy for God to protect us from the clutch of the evil one. Nonetheless, he exposes us with the help of his grace. We don't become saints by being free from temptations but by overcoming them. |
